About Me

Hello!  My name is Jessica, and I was born and raised in the New York City area.  The first step is admitting you have a problem, and I am definitely addicted to skincare and cosmetics.  Even when I was a toddler, I used to invade my mom's makeup drawer to try different lipstick shades and test different lotions.  Today, I still can't walk by a Sephora store without taking a peek inside...I would definitely be embarrassed to tell you how many points I have earned on my Sephora Beauty Insider card over the years.  In my spare time, I love making my own face creams, reading Bobbi Brown’s newest book, or watching Michelle Phan’s latest tutorial.

Naturally, when it came time to look for internships in college, the first place I looked was in the personal care industry.  I ended up working for several natural cosmetics companies, which really sparked my interest in the idea of “healthy” beauty products.  Currently, I still work in the beauty industry as a marketing professional.

In 2013, I decided to start Beauty for Life because I wanted to share what I have learned through both my personal experimentation and from working in the beauty industry.  Recently, we have been hearing more and more about natural and organic products, but many women do not truly understand how to process terms.  My goal is to create a forum that educates women about their skin and the beauty industry in simple and understandable terms.  I want to help others make informed decisions about choosing cosmetics that their suit individual needs without compromising their long-term health.  Ultimately, I am really interested in everything beauty from the consumer side to the business side of the industry.  Beauty for Life is an outlet through which I can share my passion for beauty in way that is helpful to everyday women like myself.

6 Reasons Why I'm a Beauty Geek:
  1. In 5th grade, we had to do a biography on somebody, who inspires us.  While everyone else picked Michelle Kwan or Princess Diana, I picked Estee Lauder.
  2. I had way too much fun at the HBA Global Expo and the "Making Scents of Your Future" career day at Avon.
  3. The only absence that I had during my senior year of high school was when I skipped school to go to Bobbi Brown's book signing at Lord & Taylor.
  4. For Christmas, I asked Santa for the latest anti-aging facial treatment...nightingale droppings.
  5. I've read all of Bobbi Brown's books, Making Faces by Kevyn Aucoin, Asian Faces by Taylor Chang, Asian Beauty Secrets by Dr. Marie Jhin to name a few.
  6. I've had the pleasure of working with some of the biggest artists in the industry (not to name drop but Gucci Westman, Alison Raffaele, and Tracy Lee to name a few) and have been left starstruck after each encounter.

Things I Love (other than beauty):  family, friends, figure skating, singing, zumba fitness, shopping, food (especially chocolate), watching Andy Cohen on Bravo, anything pink
